CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Bernard is an award-winning Executive Producer and Director specialising in nature documentaries. His passion is in all TV genres especially in entertainment and documentaries.  He is producer, director,  creative director, executive producer with over 35 years experience. He started as a graduate trainee at the BBC in 1983, where he later became a producer-director, series producer and executive producer in the BBC's Natural History Unit  for over 21 years.  In 2004 he left the BBC to form his own company Aqua Vita Films.  As an independent, he has worked in a variety of TV genres and also made short dramas and worked with scriptwriters in the creation of full feature movies. 

Bernard enjoys working with creative teams in developing new original TV productions for a global audience.  His innovative and imaginative approach has been central to his work ethic and success.  The essential character-driven story-lines created using the very best talent are the hallmark of  every world class production.

 

He has worked as an executive and a director in a variety of productions from live studio to factual programmes, including "blue-chip" natural history documentaries and series for prime-time BBC ONE, BBC TWO, BBC FOUR, Channel FIVE, RTE ONE and international broadcasters such as National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet, Nature (WNET/PBS) Smithsonian Channel and Terra Mater. He has worked with great talent, like David Bellamy, Sir David Attenborough, Jonathan Dimbleby, Dame Diana Rigg and Kevin Spacey, as well as many others. His decades of experience brings a fresh and original approach to making films, pushing boundaries and style.

Creative story telling, talent and project management and a trusted team player is central to the success of all his productions.

Bernard is available to work as an executive producer, producer, director, as well as self-shoot director (with Red Helium 8K), writer, and consultant.
